Jeffree Star Cosmetics - Special Edition, Summer Collection.

Hello people of the inter web! Today I would like to review the Jeffree Star Cosmetics special edition Summer Collection liquid lipsticks.

I know I'm a little late to the party with this review blog BUT I feel like I need to share with you all my opinions on this collection, so lets get started!

As you can see in the photo above, the packaging is a vibrant yellow! The collection has 5 shades total and the tubes have a yellow top rather than the classic Jeffree Star pink. All apply very smoothly and smell like watermelon. The collection was sold as a bundle and also singularly. So if you only liked one or a couple shades you were able to purchase them separately.

I was really excited about this collection because the colors were so bright and pretty. The summer vibes were definitely felt with these colors. However, the main reason I was mostly excited about this collection was the yellow liquid lipstick (unfortunately, it wasn't what I had hoped but we'll get to that later).

The first shade is called 'Nude Beach' and is pretty self explanatory. If you purchased 'Mannequin', it's comparable to that except 'Nude Beach' has a more peach undertone rather than brown. The formula for this shade was a bit thin which made it somewhat streaky.

The second shade is one we already knew and loved, the shade '714'. Jeffree had this shade available last summer and decided to make it available once more. For those that don't know about '714', it is a cool toned light pink. Also a bit streaky.

The third shade is 'Virginity'. It is a grey toned lavender; a lighter version of 'Scorpio'. It's my second favorite from this collection. I like to pair it with a bronze or rust smokey eye.

The fourth shade is 'Watermelon Soda'. This is my favorite shade from the collection. It's a bright, neon, watermelon pink. It is so pretty and can be worn with basically any color eyeshadow.

Last but not least, the fifth and final shade 'Queen Bee'. The color is so amazing; it is a perfect yellow lemonade shade. But however great the color is, the product itself fell quite short. The consistency is very thick and mousse like. The application is pretty smooth and feels hydrating but is extremely patchy. Trying to get rid of the patches, I had to layer it a few times, which then led the product to start cracking. It is such a shame that this liquid lipstick did not work out for me.

Final thoughts:

I feel like the formula for this collection was a bit too thin seeing as four of the liquid lipsticks were streaky, excluding 'Queen Bee', the yellow one (which was too thick but also patchy). Jeffree's summer collection, despite how cool and beautiful the colors were, didn't really do it for me. I think I would have been ok purchasing only 'Virginity' and 'Watermelon Soda'.

Beauty Killer Palette - Jeffree Star Cosmetics.

Beauty Killer Palette review, let's get started!

FullSizeRender.jpg

This is Jeffree Star's first eyeshadow palette and it is as unique as himself. There's such a variety of colors in this palette, from a bright hot pink to a warm soft peach tone. There's a total of ten different shades in three different finishes: matte, frost & glitter. These shadows are extremely pigmented and super buttery, which makes them easy to blend.

My absolute favorite shades in this palette are, Violence (a highly pigmented frosty purple), Confession (a beautiful rust color) & Princess (a frosty pinky, lavender color which I like to use as a face highlight). Another shade I really like is 'Star Power' (the brightest matte neon pink I've ever seen), this shade was the one I was mostly excited to try, it is super pigmented and stays bright. However, this particular color has a downside that I'm not too psyched about, it stained my skin, it took makeup remover and a couple of showers to come off completely.

The shade I wasn't excited about at all was 'Rich Bitch' (a weirdly textured glittery, yellow gold). There's two reasons why I don't like this shade, one; because I don't really use gold to begin with and two; at first it was pretty hard to work with because the glitter particles are pretty big so they just flake off, I discovered it works best if you wet your brush previous to using it.

Overall, I like this palette a lot. It's honestly been the only palette I've been using since getting it. Because of its diversity this palette is good for a dramatic smokey eye, everyday natural look with a sparkle or a fun look with a pop of color!

Kylie Cosmetics

My first blog post is about one extremely popular brand that I'm sure we've all heard of, the infamous Kylie Cosmetics.

I recently purchased a product from this company for the first time. I was curious in finding out whether her lipsticks were worth all the hype. To my disappointment, they were not.

The product I purchased was one of her new metal matte liquid lipsticks in the shade 'Reign', the color is such a pretty copper-bronze. I was sure it would really work out since most of the reviews I had read about her products seemed very promising. The consistency of this liquid lipstick is sort of thick like a mousse texture. As far as application goes it went on pretty smoothly but also quite streaky. I waited for it to dry to layer it to fix the streakiness but I waited and waited and kept waiting for it to dry but it never did. Somewhere I read that using a lip liner would help but it did not. When I went to remove it it came right off.

Final thoughts:

In my professional opinion as a makeup artist, I think that the Kylie lip kits are nothing more than just marketing BS. My experience with her product was not agreeable. I wasted my money on a product that I ended up not liking (for quality reasons, color is fine) and I couldn't even get a refund or an exchange. If a company truly believes in their product they'd allow returns (talk about poor customer service). This was not a hate blog post against Kylie, it's a simple review on a makeup product that didn't meet my standards. All in all, I will not be buying from Kylie Cosmetics anymore.

Intro to my blog

Hello and welcome to my website!

In this blog area I will be discussing and reviewing any new beauty products that I purchase. Not only will I be sharing with you all my likes but also my dislikes. You can be sure that all of my reviews will be 100% genuine. I will make it a point to focus on the quality of the product and not the name brand it is attached to. Of course, my reviews are solemnly my opinion. If there is a review I made of a product and you disagree with my opinion that's ok, not every product is for everyone.

I am very excited to share with you all my experiences in the beauty world!
