I'm such a huge introvert so trying to write about myself is very difficult as I really dislike the attention. 

Let's cover the basics:

I am proudly Mexican-American, both my parents are from Chihuahua, Mexico. I was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I currently live in Seattle, WA., I have been here for four years now.

Who is Jimena?

I am a bit of a weird and awkward individual... as you can see in the photo above, I'm actually more than a bit. I am obsessed with the world and everything it has to offer. I love music pretty much above all else...and the macabre. I also love nature, coffee, cats, unicorns, glitter, anything that has to do with art, horror films, horror everything and all things pink. I make weird sounds when I'm bored and I sing (loudly) and talk to myself out of the blue. When I'm not being a makeup artist, I love writing, painting, sculpting, and listening to all genres of music...I am heavily influenced by the great Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh, Sylvia Ji and Gothic Architecture. But these are only a few quick facts about myself that I was able to think about for the time being. 

Me and makeup:

Like every makeup lover, my appeal to makeup began when I was a little girl. I loved experimenting on my little cousins when they came over to my house. I "borrowed" my mom's makeup making sure she didn't find out I used her stuff. I started experimenting with makeup when I was 11 years old and a few years ago I decide to take my love for it more seriously.

My first makeup inspiration was not my mother, an aunt or a cousin like most people. My first makeup inspiration wasn't even a woman, it was Marilyn Manson. I have since grown fond of other great makeup artists such as Hung Vanngo, Ve Neill, Kerry Herta, and Toni G just to name a few. Another big influence is Tim Burton (Stylistically as an artist).  

Through this new journey of mine, I hope to accomplish makeup looks that portray who I am and what I am about. I hope to bring my love and passion for the arts of makeup and portray that in my work.
